Defining ‘excellence’: the Just Cause Excellence Framework

In the first few months of 2015, the Just Cause team has been developing an ‘excellence framework’ for non-profits, as part of our practical support pilot programme. The purpose of the framework is to identify non-profits that have particularly high potential for impact and align with our own opinions on ‘what good looks like’. It will be used as screening tool to structure targeted support and identify excellent organisations whom we will then recommend to donors.

To develop the framework, we have spoken to many experts and practitioners in Singapore and beyond; researched the best frameworks from the for-profit and non-profit sectors around the world; and run a workshop with our core group of advisors. We will be piloting the framework with a small number of innovation and ambitious non-profits in Singapore over the rest of 2015, so watch this space!

Subsequent blog posts will explore the some of the thinking behind the Excellence Framework so far. It is a work in progress, to which many people are contributing. If you have any comments, insights or would like to get involved, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
